Q.265. “Why did Joseph get put in jail for no wrong?”

Very good question thank you. It was a part of God’s plan for Joseph’s future. Sounds pretty rough but it is a genuine ‘Bible Soapie.’ With Joseph in Jail God could work out his plan. The jailor recognised that God was with Joseph and put him in charge of running the prison. Later, two prisoners from Pharaoh’s staff, were in the jail and both had dreams. Joseph told them the meaning of the dreams which came 100% true. Later the Pharaoh had two vivid dreams but nobody could interpret them. BUT the one who served the Pharaoh and had been in jail was able to tell Pharaoh that: “…there is a Hebrew slave in the dungeon who can interpret your two dreams.” Joseph was called up and told the Pharaoh the meaning of his dreams. Pharaoh was impressed with Joseph’s telling of the meaning (7 years of abundance then 7 years of famine). The Pharaoh promptly made Joseph ‘Second in Command,’ of all Egypt which fulfilled God’s long-range plans for Joseph. Joseph’s brothers later did come and ‘bow down’ to their little brother Joseph, as he had dreamed they would 22 years before (see Genesis Chapters 39 to 41). A most interesting story.
